Loose notes from a still photographer
I ‘m a still photographer working on narrative features. This photo film is my point of view on a film set, between memories and observations and about my role as still photographer. During the shootings I realized that the differences between the still and the moving image can be an obstacle to carry out my work.
The narrateur voice is from Rita Loureiro.

Vertical time is an audiovisual essay about the filmic time-space relationship created between scenes from Maya Deren's films from the 1940's and original work of the film maker. Inspired by Maya Deren's notion of vertical time, a visual poetry of emotions and ideas that exist outside of the dramatic narrative, we experience thoughts and feelings woven together and expressed simultaneously in the moment.
Premiere @NYPSFF2018 @Lincoln Center, Howard Gilman Theater, New York
Rehearsal was created from footage recorded during the three years I submersed myself and my camera in several of the Portuguese Chamber Orchestra rehearsals. The conductor’s ideas on music echoed in me.
The realization of the importance of corporality in the production of sound and the freedom and responsibility inherent to the performance of each musician are the focus of this audiovisual essay on the orchestra.
Premiere @ Centro Cultural de Belém
Never present is a non-narrative performance of a woman who moves in two overlapping spaces: her mind and her home.
Teresa Simas, dancer and choreographer, created the movement in an improvisation for the camera.
Pedro Carneiro, a solo classical percussionist, conductor and composer, created the sound.
The work includes excerpts from poems by Alberto Caeiro, heteronym of the poet Fernando Pessoa, questioning “what is the present?”
Premiere @RHI Stage 2020
